Jo Packham... The Great!

Since discovering Where Women Create a few years ago... and then the incredible opportunity to be in Where Women Cook last summer I have been intrigued and awed by the powerhouse that is...
Jo Packham.

Jo has been in the publishing industry for more than 30 years, has authored over 40 arts and crafts titles...
She has her own publishing company...
And of course she is at the helm of the "Where Woman" magazines that we all are so crazy for.

I can say firsthand that is no wonder that Jo has been so successful and that so many of us find her so endearing.  With her expansive resume she remains "one of the girls" and has a way of making you feel so confident in situations that could be rather intimidating.  (I have the pleasure of being a part of one of her latest projects... I'll tell you about that soon!)

So, it is with GREAT pleasure (and still, utter shock!) that I am happy to share with you that Jo Packham is one of the contributors to the Summer edition of Parisienne Farmgirl Magazine (available July 1st).
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can imagine how excited I was when she saw PFM as a valuable place to advertise... and then when she offered to write for us... well...you could have pushed me over with a feather when I read THAT email!

I can't wait to share with our readers what she has to say... not to mention the other gorgeous articles!

Things are happening that I never could have thought possible.
Thank you all so much for your comments, kind emails and cheerleading!

I know there are a group of you that are praying for Joel and I and our new magazine and I thank you... we have some big stuff and decisions on the horizon.

Have a GORGEOUS weekend!
Love,
Ang

Romantic Prairie Style Cookbook...

Coming Next Year!
Found this photo on Fifi's blog...
It's not the cover of the cookbook but it was fun to see my darling Juliette and my Blackberry Cake.
I can't wait to see this cookbook!  Mark's photography is SO amazing.  When you see the photos he took of My Chickens all dolled up... well, they are truly charming photographs.

It will feature The Parisienne Farmgirl's:

*Blackberry Grapefruit Buttermilk cake with Sauternes

*Honey Wheat Bread

*Chevre and Zucchini Quiche

and my to-die-for if I do say so myself
Balsamic Vinaigrette

Hearty farm food with a French flair...
mais bien sur!

Thanks Fifi for your continued inspiration and another opportunity to be a part of your lovely projects!

Bon Weekend Mes Amis!

Vintage and Victorian Magazine

I quit using my cell phone about a year ago.
After Juliette was born I noticed I was getting horrible headaches.
and could not figure it out.
I actually wondered if I was drinking too much wine!
(Is there such a thing?  Oh, don't get your feathers ruffled, I am kidding of course!)
But really.
I knew I was pretty happy to be able to have some and I would have a glass or two in the evenings with my dinner... you know, "Drinking and Blogging"

Now that could get funny...

"Don't Drink and Blog"

"Bloggers Against Drunk Blogging"

Oh good grief.
I digress.

Big time.

Anyyyyyyyyyyyywhoo.
Now-a-days I only use my cell phone when I leave the house.  I am pretty convinced of the whole cancer/cell phone connection. My headaches quit the day after I stopped using my cell!!!
One day about 5 weeks ago I was on my way to my Moms and stuck in HORRIBLE traffic.  Just SITTING there loosing my impatient mind I thought I would check my cell phone voice mail.

Woopsie.

I had 17 messages and TWO were from WEEKS ago... "Janet from Vintage and Victorian Magazine."

"Oh great.  I blew it!!!"  I thought.  Here I had the chance to be in another publication and me and my stupid cell phone paranoia have blown it.  I frantically called her, trying to sound calm... to my surprise even without hearing from me they decided to begin to put the article together!!!  The entire magazine was being re-vamped, including the name and... surprise!  My bedroom was going to be on the inaugural cover!

I hung up the phone and just shook my head.
Three covers in one year!

CRAZY!

Nothing really comes from this exposure, at least not yet - (Though, hey, HGTV, I'd take my own show!  Hhaahahaha!)  but I can't say how simply fun it is to see the last fifteen years of thrift shopping, antiquing and garage sale-ing featured in these books and mags.  Really, it's a riot and if one page of my house inspires anyone the way photos of other people's homes have inspired me well then... voila.

So, here is it.  "L'Appartement" as we call it (due to it's size) featured on the September cover of the "new" magazine Vintage & Victorian.

Want a copy?
I'll have them available asap!

As Featured in... Late Summer Press

OK, so it's really Fifi's press and not mine.
But one day my uncle contacted me while sitting on the beach in Chicago, perusing a magazine, "Your house is in Chicago Home and Garden!"
Fifi's book is getting SO MUCH press this year - it's amazing and every time they use a photo of my house I get giddy!
Kind of fun that it's a hometown publication this time... Mine is just the little photo in the lower left corner, just above this text.
Candlesticks circa 1915 featuring the Holy Family, from a church in Paris, a footstool decked out in moss and cloche, two Italian nativity lambs from the thrift shop around the corner and I am really proud of my blue homemade trumeau.

More "As Featured In"'s coming...  You won't believe it!

Birth story almost written too!
Back to kissing babes!!!

Today in the Kitchen... The Cat's Out of the Bag...

...and on the shelves apparently by the screaming phone calls and emails coming in!

It's not that I wasn't "allowed" to say anything it's that I didn't quite know how and I wanted to wait 'til I had my OWN copy... which I STILL don't...

But guess what?
I figured out there is only one way to say it... here goes...

OH MY GOSH!OH MY GOSH!OH MY GOSH!OH MY GOSH!OH MY GOSH!OH MY GOSH!
OH MY GOSH!OH MY GOSH!
AMÉLIE AND I MADE THE COVER OF
WHERE WOMEN COOK!

Being in Artful Blogger a few months ago was INCREDIBLE.  Then to make the cover in print was... wow!  Remember this past spring, "Parisienne Farmgirl, A City Girl with a Farmer's Heart Page 66"

But really, this is just so darling.  To share this with my daughter... to be able to see my photographs.... to see that hilarious photo we took while making dinner after cutting our Christmas tree  (Look at the wine all over the counter top!  HA!  Ok, Half was for a reduction and half was for consumption!...I didn't know I was expecting yet:))... to be able to write about my Mom, Grandma and Great Gramma... to see recipes of mine published...

UN-REAL!

Working with Jo Packham (the Editor) has been sheer PLEASURE!  She is just a delight and there is not one ounce of pretense in the way she runs this magazine.  I would work with her, do anything for her publications again in a heartbeat!

I hope to have a big stack of these to offer you if you'd like one by the end of next week.  In the meantime, the summer edition of Where Women Cook "Featuring The Parisienne Farmgirl" is available is available at Barnes and Noble and other bookstores.  It is a lovely magazine, lush photos and great stories.  It is NOT just another cooking/recipe magazine. This publication is about the heart of the home.

Now... I find myself motivated, affirmed and inspired and find myself dreaming about writing my own cookbook... I have so many ideas... (I PROMISE I will finish the Paris book I have been yacking about for the last two years!)

I hope you enjoy it!
I can't wait to get my own copy!!!

In Interview by Claudia @ Casa de Berry

Not Casa du Barry... Casa de Berry...
Claudia that is!

Though I do think a picture of Madame du Barry would be fun on her sidebar!

I have a darling new commenter/blogger who recently asked if she could ask me a few questions.  Fun and daunting.  Her questions were great as she, like most of us is on a quest to tweak and improve her own style.  (Why she is asking me...).
Ok, so perhaps I was a little hard on HomeGoods shoppers... she laughed when I wrote in an email that I thought I overdid it.  My point was just "too much of a good thing"  like an accessory from HomeGoods that you think you neeeeeeed becomes just that... too much of a good thing.

I hope you enjoy the interview and Claudia's great new blog!

Doing a Happy Dance!

Oh my gosh
Oh my gosh
Oh my gosh
Oh my gosh
  Oh my gosh!!!!

My heart has been humble over all this fun, ridiculous exposure this past year!
But
HUMBLE SHMUMBLE!!

I can't take it anymore!
I am doing a happy dance around the kitchen!
I just went to my mailbox and found my copy of "Artful Blogging"
AND I FREAKED OUT!
The spread is so beautiful, I just can't believe I was asked to do this!
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!
I quickly scanned the cover to see if one of my photos made it.... nope.... who cares, so I went on to peruse the rest of the mag.
Then I closed it again and
DUGH!

Right there on the cover,
"Parisienne Farmgirl-
The Tale of a City Girl,
WITH A FARMERS HEART!
p.66"

Did you hear a faint scream off in the distance?
THAT WAS ME?

Happy Dance!  Happy Dance!  Happy Dance!

What does this mean?
Nothing really.
No money made... maybe my "Followers" will go up a handful or something

Maybe it will be good exposure for my upcoming book... shhhh...

But come on,
Someone, out there liked Parisienne Farmgirl enough to put her in a Magazine!!!

That is just too funny.
Too amazing.

I love you girls so much!

How about I add a copy to the giveaway!!!
Don't forget to enter!

30 December 2010

OK, This is Fun...

OK, I am still taking my little brake but had to pop in to tell you I opened my mail the other day to find two copies of this month's Romantic Country sent to me by the publisher... now I know I already told you that our sale (Shop the Shed) was going to have a little feature... but I have to tell you... it was a whole other thing to see my photographs in a magazine...

I can see why Fifi would feature the sale conceived in my uber-creative Mother's brain... a vision she had a couple years ago for her charming little turn of the century carriage shed... but that she said I could take the photos?...

What a complete honor.
I know the girls featured on the other pages have got to feel the same way.

This is fun.

Pick up your copy for something to peruse this weekend.

As Featured In...

It was such an honor to welcome Romantic Country Editor Fifi O'Neill to the Parisienne Farmhouse this summer (2010).  And what a hoot!  My dining room, kitchen and potager will be featured in her new book available Spring of 2011.
Rumor has it there may even be a Part II!
Click here to visit Fifi's darling blog.

Someday when I look back on this blogging hobby I believe this will be my favorite memory.  I think it's so cook my daughter will  have the someday... in fact all three kids are featured inside.  I am so happy to share this with them!  Summer 2011.

This fall to my complete shock I received an email asking me to write an article about my blogging style for the magazine Artful Blogging.  Oh my goodness.  I just could not believe it.  This is a gorgeous publication.  Beautiful paper, beautiful layout... So, I did my best... and the article will be featured in the magazine this spring... around March 2011.  Available at Michaels Arts and Crafts and fine bookstores.

How fun to discover that I had been mentioned... and my photography complimented by Dusty Lu... Rachel Ashwell's photographer!  I could NOT believe it!

I don't know if there is a kinder, more real person in Blogland... oh! and such exquisite taste!  Anne of Fiona and Twig is just a doll and has had nothing but kind, encouraging things to say about Parisienne Farmgirl.  Her comments around here can be pretty hilarious too!  Be sure to visit Fiona and Twig!

My friend Mimi (Bonjour Romance) who lives in la belle France launched a lovely E-Mag this past year and in the December edition is an article by me about Christmas decorating... affordable of course.  I will be submitting a recipe for her Valentines edition.  Oo-la-la!

Of course Momma mentions P.F. now and again!!!

And Anne Marie too!

Just the generosity involved in anyone mentioning this website... my particular style... is so kind and flattering.  I thank you!
